Celebrate Your Milestones and Share the Journey

Client: Modern Dental, Singapore and Hong Kong
Service: Brand Story Video Production, pre and post-editing

My team and I recently had the honor of filming a brand video for Modern Dental, showcasing their milestones, achievements, and future innovations. Although I’m not an expert in the dental industry, I found the video incredibly informative.

It’s common to feel hesitant about sharing our achievements, especially when we feel they’re not as grand as we’d like. But think of it this way: celebrating the small steps along the way is just as important as reaching the final destination. It's also a way to honor the customers, friends, and supporters who've been with you on the journey.

Sharing your milestones and future plans is a key part of building your brand. It shows you as an industry expert and acts as a dynamic way to share your story. However, creating a video that truly resonates with your audience comes down to the little details in the pre-production phase.

Let me share a few tips:

1. A Library of B-Rolls and Evidence

When people think of a milestone video, they often imagine a long, boring presentation. But to keep things interesting, it’s important to include footage of your brand in action. This helps engage your audience and makes the video feel more real and relatable. I always try to capture original footage with my team, rather than relying on stock videos, as it creates a more authentic connection with viewers.

2. Smiling Goes a Long Way

It’s totally normal to feel nervous in front of the camera. Sometimes, this leads to awkward expressions or moments of frustration. That’s why I make it a point to ease the speaker into the process by cracking jokes or having casual conversations before filming. This helps build rapport and confidence, making them feel comfortable. I also make sure to give lots of positive feedback—like nodding and smiling—while they speak. It helps them relax and focus on their message instead of worrying about the camera.

3. Arranging Scripts and Topics

The first 5 to 10 seconds of your video are crucial for grabbing your audience's attention. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget this, but rearranging the script or conversational topics can make a huge difference. By adjusting the flow of the conversation and simplifying complicated sentences, you can help your speaker deliver their message smoothly. Whether you prefer a scripted or conversational style, the key is to make the speaker feel comfortable and the delivery natural. A slight tweak in how topics are presented can shift the video from being "meh" to something impactful.

At the end of the day, don’t hesitate to share your milestones, no matter how big or small. Think of the video as a reflection of how far you’ve come and what you’ve built. Don’t worry too much about how others might perceive it—we're all just a tiny moment in their day.
